Ivica Olić [ivitsa 奥利奇] (born September 14, 1979) is a Croatian football player who, as of February 2007, is playing for Hamburger SV.

Club Career
Olić was born and raised in the village of Davor near Slavonski Brod, Croatia. He started playing football for the local club Marsonia in 1996, and spent two good seasons there before he was acquired by Hertha Berlin in 1998. He did not see much play there and returned home to Marsonia the following year.

After another successful season at Marsonia (in the 2000/01 season he scored 17 goals in 29 games), in 2001 he moved to NK Zagreb where he would score 21 goals in 28 appearances and help his team to win the league. The following season he moved to Dinamo Zagreb, where he scored 16 goals in 27 games, and became the best striker of the Croatian First League.

In 2003, he was acquired by CSKA. His form rose gradually, and in the 2005 season he contributed 10 goals in twice as many games.

In January 2007 he moved to Hamburger SV, playing his first Bundesliga game with them against Energie Cottbus on January 31.[1] He was signed because Hamburg were in deep trouble, finishing in the relegation zone before the winter break. It worked out in the end and Hamburg finished seventh, which even acquired them an Intertoto Cup place. He scored two goals in the last match in the 2006-07 Bundesliga season against Alemannia Aachen in a 4-0 win. In October 2007 Olić scored a hat-trick in the Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart, which Hamburg won 4:1. He was the first player in the history of the club, who scored three successive goals in one half.

Olić was part of the Croatian national team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup where he played in two games and scored one goal, but an important one against Italy. He also played three games for Croatia in Euro 2004, and two games in 2006 FIFA World Cup.

In September 2006 he was dropped from Croatian squad for a qualifying match for one game due to a late-night partying binge together with Darijo Srna and Boško Balaban.

Ivica is often praised by the fans for his hard work with large amounts of stamina efforts on the pitch, with ability to draw 2 to 3 defenders on him.

He was named man of the match in the match at Wembley in which Croatia defeated England 2:3. He scored the second goal in the match, which gave Croatia a two goal lead against England, who couldn't recover and were knocked out of the European Cup held in 2008.

Jerko Leko (born April 9, 1980 in Zagreb) is a Croatian footballer who currently plays for Monegasque club AS Monaco FC. He is known for his versatility, and can play anywhere in midfield.

Club career
His career began with NK Dinamo Zagreb in 2000 in his native Croatia, although he was not an immediate success. After spending some time on loan at NK Croatia Sesvete, he became a regular starter in 2001/2002, helping Dinamo win the Croatian Cup. He scored in the final against NK Varteks, and was named Man of the Match. It was apparent that Dinamo could not hold onto this fine talent for much longer.

Jerko Leko eventually moved to Dynamo Kyiv in 2002 for ?m (a club record). In his first season in Ukraine, Dynamo won the double, with Leko playing 18 times.

In February 2006, it was announced that Jerko Leko would be leaving Dynamo Kyiv, having turned down a new contract offer. He signed for Monaco on a free transfer on June 4, 2006, according to the sport daily Sportske Novosti.[citation needed]

Leko made his Croatia debut in 2002 against Hungary but was not included in the 2002 World Cup squad. He scored a goal in a 4-0 victory against Belgium in a Euro 2004 qualifying match, and was included in the Euro 2004 squad, but he only played 22 minutes in all.

Milan "Miki" Rapaić (born 16 August 1973 in Nova Gradiška) is a Croatian football (soccer) midfielder who is currently a free agent after his contract with Standard Liège ended in July 2007.

Previously, Rapaić played for Hajduk Split (1991-1996, 2002-2003), Perugia (1996-2000), Fenerbah鏴 (2000-2002), and Ancona (2003-2004).

A regular in the Croatia national football team, he had earned 45 caps and scored five goals as of the end of 2004. Rapaić played two games for his country at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He will be most remembered for his spectacular if somewhat lucky winning goal scored against Italy. He also played three games for Croatia in Euro 2004 and scored one goal.

He has proved a fan favourite wherever he has played, and after impressive performances he once again earned a call up for the Croatian national side after missing the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Croatia went on to beat the world champions Italy (0-2, in August 2006) with Rapaić playing a large role. He is also known for his boisterous night life which is one of the reasons (together with his spontaneous and simple character) he is so popular among fans, and also one of the reasons he never materialized enough his tremendous talent.

Robert Kovač 罗贝托.科瓦奇 (born April 6, 1974 in West Berlin, West Germany) is a Croatian football defender who is a part of the Croatian national team. He is generally considered one of Croatia's best defenders in recent history.

Robert Kovač, along his older brother Niko, were both born in West Berlin to a family of Croatian gastarbeiters from Livno, and are among a handful of players on the national team born in foreign countries, and the pair have brought some of the stamina necessary to play in the Bundesliga to Croatia's game.

Kovač started his career in lower league clubs Rapide Wedding and Hertha Zehlendorf (1994–1995) before making his Bundesliga debut with FC Nuremberg in 1995. Then, he played for Bayer Leverkusen (1996-2001) and then moved to Bayern Munich in 2001.

He played for Croatia at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. He also started for Croatia at World Cup 2006 and played well in defence however after picking up a second yellow against Japan he missed the final group match against Australia through suspension. Without Kovač, Croatia struggled in defence with his replacement Tomas committing handball for Australia's first goal via penalty kick. Croatia eventually drew 2-2 with Australia but were eliminated from the tournament. With Croatia, Leverkusen, and Bayern, Robert was teammates with brother Niko Kovač.

Armed with a good sense of timing, sophistication rather than raw power, strength and speed, Kovač is the incarnation of the modern defender who can venture forward and supply defence-splitting passes with ease.

Although there were reports that he agreed on all terms to play with Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb at the start of the 2007–2008 season, the transfer fell out due to inability to agree on terms. Instead, he agreed terms with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on June 20.

Stipe Pletikosa 普雷蒂科萨 (born January 8, 1979 in Split, SR Croatia, Yugoslavia) is a Croatian football goalkeeper who currently plays for FC Spartak Moscow.

Pletikosa made his Croatia debut as a 20-year-old against Denmark in 1999, winning plaudits for his cat-like reflexes and shot-stopping. But insecurity over the handling of high balls took a heavy toll at the 2000 European under-21 championship in Slovakia, where Croatia finished last in their group after Pletikosa conceded some soft goals.

Pletikosa worked hard on improving the weaknesses in his game and under former Croatia coach Mirko Jozić, became his country's first-choice goalkeeper, playing in all three matches at the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. The once nervous though talented Pletikosa has blossomed, making full use of every centimetre of his 1.93-metre frame and possessing a far greater assurance when dealing with diffi*** high balls.

He was also supposed to be Croatia's first goalkeeper at the Euro 2004 in Portugal, but sustained an injury a few days before the beginning of the tournament and the position of the team's first goalkeeper was taken by Tomislav Butina, who was up to that time his first reserve. Butina retained the position in the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying, so Pletikosa appeared in only two qualifying matches. Nevertheless, when the finals tournament started, Pletikosa was chosen over Butina who had still been recovering from an injury sustained early in the year.
