Borriello's gunning for Milan glory

Milan marksman Marco Borriello claims he is fully fit and can help guide the Rossoneri to the Scudetto.

Borriello developed in Milan's youth side but was sent on loan six times and was suspended for failing a drugs test before spending last year at Genoa in a co-ownership agreement.

The 26-year-old was one of the revelations of the 2007-08 campaign as he blasted 19 goals and earned a return to Milan, but he has struggled for fitness in Italy's fashion capital since picking up an injury in pre-season.

“I'm ready to take on Sampdoria and I feel like I'm in great shape now,” Borriello declared in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I always believed that I would make it at Milan. I left and came back five times and I have squandered two or three years.

“I think someone else in my place would have taken the hint and left for good.

“But I persevered and I'm proud of what I achieved. I think I can be useful to Milan but I know I'm not assured a place in the side, as only Kaka is.”

Many people believe Milan don't have what it takes to fight for the Scudetto this term with Inter making a much faster start.

“I like it that people think that,” Borriello insisted. “If anyone underestimates us, we are going to benefit from it.

“I think it is much better to keep a low profile rather than being forced to win at all costs like Jose Mourinho's Inter are.

“We aim to win the Scudetto and we really believe we can do it. Juventus and Roma are also in contention but I think we will prevail in the end after a duel with Inter.”
