Mark Rein denies Gears is coming to the PC…again
VP Mark Rein has again stated that there are currently no plans to bring Gears of War to the PC. Some astute observers had found some references to Gears of War in the Nvidia “Forceware” and assumed that it was proof that Gears was indeed on it’s way to the PC. People began to freak out but Mark was there to bring them back down, posting this on the Epic forums…
“There is no ‘new information’ that Gears will be released on PC. You know console games are developed on PCs, right? Even if we never release Gears of War on PC we still need to run the game on PC to develop and test content for it.”
He even explained how Nvidia got their hands on some GoW content…
“We gave NVIDIA a copy of wargame.exe (along with some sample content from Gears) so they could help us tweak Unreal Engine 3 performance and reliability on NVIDIA graphics chips,”
Mark is such a hero. He has the amazing ability to crush rumors and false hopes in a single breath. So to make things clear, Gears of War is never coming to the PC…for now.

在Epic Games的研讨会上，Mark Rein针对NVIDIA的ForceWare 97.92驱动里面发现了《战争机器》痕迹的谣言作出了以下的回驳：“几乎每天都有关于《战争机器》向PC平台移植的'新消息',我们知道无论什么平台的游戏都由PC开发出来,即使我们不发行《战争机器》PC版,但我们仍然需要在PC上运行游戏(战争机器),去不断调试它。”
Mark Rein接着解释:"我们向Nvidia提供了一份wargame.exe(包括了一些来自《战争机器》的图像特性)的拷贝,好让他们帮助我们充分了解Unreal Engine 3在Nvidia显卡上的表现力和可靠性,以保证他们的驱动能够完全适合UE3引擎。"
既然老总都不给脸子，那么这回就真的判了《战争机器》PC版的死刑了。360版《战争机器》在全球已经取得了300万份的成绩，估计微软和Epic Games都忙着开发《战争机器2》以进一步扩大xbox 360的影响力，PC版就自然不被考虑了。. |
