Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo is in talks to sign for Real Madrid.
Earlier this week, Madrid presidential candidate Juan Miguel Villar Mir claimed he was on the verge of securing a deal for the United winger in a bid to gain support for his election campaign.
Ronaldo himself was also quoted in Spanish newspaper Marca as saying he would be on his way to the Bernabeu if Juan Miguel Villar Mir was voted in.
However, Sir Alex has refuted these claims and insists Ronaldo, who is contracted to United until June 2010, is going nowhere. 9c
"There isn't a problem with the boy and I don't expect any problems," Sir Alex told MUTV.
"Over the years when people have been involved in a bid to become president at Madrid they've used clubs like ours.
"They [the candidates] talk about what they're going to do for Madrid and how they'll bring in big players.
"They've promised to buy about half a dozen players over the last few weeks including Ronaldo and Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid.
"I've experienced it time and time again in the past. It's just talk to try and encourage people to vote for them," added the United boss. |
