NBA STREET V3 Wallpaper Contest Winner
The NBA STREET V3 Wallpaper Contest was an intense battle of creativity, drive and passion from fans who were not only committed to the game, but to creators who wanted to express themselves through digital artistry.
But in the end, there could only be one winner, and his name is Bradley. The NBA STREET V3 Community Team (CT) got a chance to chat it up with Bradley and see what's been going on in his world since he won the contest.
CT: What did you do when you found out you were one of the five finalists in the wallpaper contest?
Bradley: Well, I had just walked into my Graphic Design class and my teacher called me up to his desk. I was thinking to myself, I have done something wrong? But he told me that I was one of the finalists. I could not believe it. I was like "are you serious?" -- making it that far was really big for me.
CT: What went through your mind when you found out you won?
Bradley: Oh goodness, I did not know what to believe anymore! Making in the top five was good enough, but to win it, it was unbelievable. I came home that day and went to go and check my email, and I saw something that said NBA STREET V3. I was like, the voting is over, I wonder who won. Well, I was reading it and it said, "If you are recieving this email it is because you won!". It was like I lost my breath. I called my friends, and I went back to school to show my principal and teachers. And I even went to my mom's work to show her. It was a great feeling.
CT: What was the inspiration for your contest entry?
Bradley: My graphic designer teacher inspired me to enter this contest, because he knows that I like to make wallpapers and he knew that I would probably make a good one for this game. So he told me about and I entered it. There were also two of my classmates who entered it, so that was a inspiration to me because it made me work harder to make mine the best that it could be because I knew that it would be a challenge not only with the other people in the U.S. but with my classmates also.
CT: Your contest entry was pretty unique. What were some of the steps you took in creating it?
Bradley: Well, at first it was pretty diffi***. I did like 6 different wallpapers. I had to get the colors to blend together the right way, and fit the NBA players in there. This made it challenging, because there was 6 players that you had to put on it. So it took me some time in doing it and I wanted to make it look colorful. It was all about balancing everything together; where to put the players, and how to get the backgrounds to fit in with the players. I really enjoyed doing it.
CT: What attracts you to NBA STREET V3?
Bradley: The players in the game looked real, and also, putting some women in the game attracted me more to this game. I am a huge WNBA fan! If you guys made a WNBA game, I would be the happiest person ever. But the way that the game plays and the all the different kinds of moves in the game which I havent figured them all out yet. It's a really good game!
CT: What kind of player did you create in the game?
Bradley: I actually created myself on the game and it looked awesome.
CT: What do you play basketball in real life? Have you tried to perform some of the tricks in the game on the court?
Bradley: I played basketball at my high school, I was a shooting guard. This will probably be my last year playing basketball for any other team. I wish you guys were giving a scholarship out. But anyway, I haven't tried to perform any of these tricks on the court. I have tried some outside in front of my home and could not do any, but I'm still going to work on them.
CT: Do you consider yourself a hardcore gamer?
Bradley: Yes... well, the only games I do play is basketball games. So I consider myself to be a hardcore basketball gamer. I cannot and will not be beaten in any basketball game [laughs]. Basketball is my life -- I'd like to play in college, but I probably won't.
CT: What other games do you play?
Bradley: I have played tennis, soccer, and football. I hope you have an NFL Wallpaper contest someday. I play any kind of sports games.
CT: In closing, is there anyone you'd like to give a special shout out to?
Bradley: I'd like to give a shout out to my graphic design teacher, Mr. Doug Martin. If it wasn't for him pushing me so hard to this day, I wouldn't be doing any of this. And to my li'l nephew Jimmy Early. If it wasn't for him, I would not being doing anything in my life. But he looks up to me and that just makes me work harder in whatever I do. Shout out to my mom and dad, friends and family, and especially to the ones who voted for me. Thanks!. |
