RE5：考证Enemies Routed的中文解释

不知各位有没有注意到, 在玩英文模式的RE5时, 过关结算画面有几行数据表示你在此关中的表现. 依次是命中率、敌人击破数、死亡回数和过关时间等。我想大家都能明白。但是有其中一项我不是很明白，就是把“敌人击破数”处理成Enemies Routed，让我有点不懂。因为我记得好像Route是指“路线”之意，或者也可以指动词“指引，规划”。这里Routed毫无疑问是一个动词的过去分词，表示“被......”如何如何。难道这个词组的意思是“被指引的敌人”？一直让我百思不得其解。

    后来我查了一下牛津高阶字典，又在网上比对了一下，发现我又学了一课：原来这里的Routed的动词原型不是route，而是rout。这两个词虽然写法不同，但是过去式和过去分词却是一模一样的。也就是说我在玩游戏的时候看到这个词思维里就已经先入为主了。这里rout的意思主要有两种：

  Noun
  1. an overwhelming defeat
  Verb
  2. to defeat and put to flight [Anglo-Norman rute]

  大致的意思，可以指“完败”（名词），也可以指“击败”（动词），并且还是一个及物动词。故而，游戏中的Enemies Routed，可以理解成Enemies who are routed，而routed就是动词rout的过去分词，意思就是"被击败的敌人”，就也是我们说的“杀敌数”了。跟Enemies killed/slain/terminated/neutralized是一个意义。

  可能大家早就知道这个词的意思了 ，不过我还是想可能坛中还会有人不知道rout和route的区别。特写此贴聊以解惑。

P.S.: route的现在分词可以写成routeing，以示区分。.

正好顺便问下，我打的时候这项目的评价总是不高，请问这项是数量大好还是数量少好啊？
按LZ的说法，就是杀的多好还是杀的少好啊？

用 merriam-webster字典是查不到routeing这个词的啊...

route和rout都是用routing的

不是写成routeing的吧,我记得没这种写法.

一般的动词如果是以e结尾,则分词或者动名词是应该去掉e加上ing.
但是这个route不一样.语法上允许routeing这样的写法,来表示与routing的区别.
所以这只能算是一个例外,不能***大的规定.当然,你非要去掉e,也没问题.多个选择而已.

The spelling routing in this sense is, however, sometimes encountered, esp. in American English.

I didn't have an Oxford dictionary to hand :-(  Just online ones, most
of which said that the UK spelling was "routeing".  Of course, that
might be because they were US sites that thought "Oh, just sling an
extra vowel in to make the UK spelling".

I have to admit that routeing looks odd to me compared with routing,
although now I come to look at the words closely they both look odd.

I have both - the online OED - which says for routeing:

?Delineation of routes, etc. Also, the action of the vb.: direction along,
? ? ?or allocation to, particular routes.
?Routeing is the better form to distinguish it from ROUTING vbl. n.
? ? ?and ppl. a. (pronounced /non-pasting symbols/).

I work in the routing business in the UK and we always use "routing". I
rarely, if ever, see "routeing".
This doesn't mean it's correct, of course, but it is common practice.

我明白了.地域性用法.

PS, OED是可以查到routeing的, 但是Merriam-Webster是查不到这个词的.
