With Juventus, AC Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio all facing stern action over allegations of bribery - with possible relegation mooted as one option - clubs across Europe seem ready to swoop.
The first name to be strongly linked with Old Trafford is Milan's combative midfield star Rino Gattuso. The Italian has made no secret of his admiration for United, and the Sun feel a deal may materialise if Milan are demoted.
Meanwhile, Owen Hargreaves, one of the few bright points in England's failed campaign, has admitted his desire to move to the Premiership - and Old Trafford is allegedly one of his preferred destinations.
The 24-year-old would move to a Premiership side in next season's Champions League, and displays in England's midfield holding role have thrust him into the transfer spotlight.
Hargreaves joins the list of top stars linked with moves to Old Trafford, with Juan Roman Riquelme, Michael Carrick and Franck Ribery among those mentioned.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, particularly after his clash with Wayne Rooney during Portugal's win over England.

加图索连做梦都想为MU效力
Italy World Cup star Rino Gattuso could soon be on his way to Manchester United. But the deal will only happen this summer if AC Milan are relegated in the massive Italian match-fixing scandal. Intermediaries for United and the player have met in Germany - but so far his Milan club have been left out. Midfielder Gattuso, 28, has been looking for an excuse to join United. He is on record as saying: "It is my dream to play for Manchester United and I have had this dream for a long time." And a well-placed Italian source revealed: "Let’s just say that all parties except Milan are being kept informed and are waiting for the end of the tournament and the trial with interest."
