Mario Kart World has a ton of different characters – both new and old – but there’s a notable absence as Diddy Kong doesn’t appear to be on the roster. While IGN recently attempted to get some clarity from the game’s producer, it seems Nintendo is keeping quiet at the moment.
Diddy Kong originally appeared in Mario Kart: Double Dash on the GameCube. He’s been featured in other titles since then, including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe through the Booster Course Pass.
IGN asked Mario Kart World producer Kosuke Yabuki about the status of Diddy Kong in Mario Kart World as part of a recent interview. He merely told the site: “I’m afraid I can’t say anything at this time.” Make of that what you will.
It was recently revealed that Nintendo has given Diddy Kong a bit of a design update, with some hoping that this look would be in the upcoming title. Donkey Kong has also an update – a much more significant overhaul – for the upcoming game Donkey Kong Bananza and will be on the roster.
