Colonialism : Nectar in a Sieve and Things Fall Apart essays
Many of the villagers are excited about the new opportunities and techniques that the missionaries bring.  Their were some who were reluctant to change such as Okonkwo yet the majority of the natives converted to Christianity, thus enabling the churchmissionaries and the District Officer to control and manipulate the minds of the natives.  People eked out a meager living from the land, growing most of what they ate and having only a small amount to trade, sell Cheap Jordans On Sale, and use to pay the land rent.  These traditional methods, once crucial for survival, are now, to varying degrees Air Jordan Retro, dispensable. Nectar in a Sieve also unravels the bonds between family traditions and the desires the children wish to obtain in a growing and changing time in India.  In Nectar in a Sieve the British separated the town by making economical barriers between the natives allowing the weak to be demolished and the strong to fall under the control of the British.  And lastly, it is a novel about the conflicts between a traditional agri***ural ***ure and a burgeoning industrial society that"tms wealth in resources hasn"tmt been utilized for their own advantage and the importance of traditional ***ural practices, people"tms reluctance to change, and the impact of economic change.  Accomplishing a compromise between yourself and what may be better is a struggle that many people to day still face.  Even though there were some differences the outcomes were fortunately and unfortunately the same. As said earlier the motives for colonizing each nation were different.  And lastly the all these examples of political reform due to colonialism has helped me better understand the impact the missionaries had on the Nigerian tribe because of the personal accounts exerted by the book.  As a story about a ***ure on the verge of change, Things Fall Apart deals with how the thought and reality of change affects various characters.  Nwofia is more attracted by the ''Rollicking tunes of evangelism'' (Achebe, p 121) than by the doctrines of Christianity, and he doesn't really fit in within the tribe anyway.
