这期第一次出现所谓OS的说法 GAME ARTS 为保证“格兰蒂亚”制作质量,为SS设计了全新的操作系统(Operation System),使该游戏可以完全用足土星双CPU和7个DSP的强大能力。
不知是编辑胡诌的还是引用日刊的,正确说法其实应该是“为SS设计了全新的引擎(Engine)”。
Third-party development was initially hindered by the lack of useful software libraries and development tools, requiring developers to write in assembly language to achieve good performance. At least during early Saturn development, programming in assembly could offer a two to fivefold speed increase over the C language.[8] To save development costs and time, some programmers would utilize only one CPU, such as with Alien Trilogy. Sega responded to these criticisms by writing new graphics libraries which were claimed to help make development easier.[11] These libraries were presented as a new operating system by Sega of Japan.[11]
